Cooper traded to Portage

The Bruins' goalie situation is now resolved after the trade of Shea Cooper to the MJHL's Portage Terriers.

I spoke to Keith this afternoon and he said the deal had changed, which was the reason for the delay. The trade includes a list player coming back to the Bruins. That was partly to avoid another SJHL team potentially picking up Cooper on waivers. If a player is traded out of province for cash only, other teams in the league are given 48 hours to claim him.

"I wanted to make sure he got to Portage. It's a good situation for him," Keith said. "Shea gets a new start. I think he'll be just fine."

He cited Tendler being a year younger and having "the kind of disposition we're looking for to work with our young defencemen and Steven Glass" as reasons for dealing Cooper.
