Cooper injured and other quick hits

Good afternoon. Here are a few Bruins updates heading into tonight's pre-season finale against Notre Dame.

  • Shea Cooper is on the shelf for up to two weeks. He suffered a knee laceration that required stitches after an off-ice accident. That means Derek Tendler and Steven Glass will dress for Saturday's opener. The Bruins don't play again until Sept. 24 after that, so Cooper might be healthy by then. At any rate, the injury allows the team to put off the decision on who to keep.
  • Derek Whitehill (shoulder) is considered day-to-day. Not sure yet if he'll be ready to go on Saturday.
  • Ryan Ostertag (concussion) has been cleared to play and, as far as I know, will be ready for the opener.
  • No word yet on Ben Johnstone's concussion suffered last week against Weyburn.
  • There were still 27 players on the roster as of yesterday. The only players gone from the roster I reported last week are Kade Halabuza and Wyatt Garagan. They have to get down to 25 so expect a couple of cuts in the next few days, probably at forward.
